Heritage Makers

We recently attended a home party for a digital scrapbook company called Heritage Makers.  We had met the consultant, Helen, at a craft fair where we were both vendors.  We were pretty excited to learn about Heritage Makers but it exceeded our expectations.

Being a working mom with two small children, I struggle finding the time to pursue all of my hobbies.  When my eldest daughter was young, I spent her first year making a year book of all her "firsts."  It was one of the few scrapbooks that I was able to finish.  I do like traditional scrap-booking but with two children, a full time job and a new craft business, I can't bring myself to get out of my cutters, papers and embellishments.  My two year old is an excellent "helper" if you know what I mean.   Digital scrapbooking lets me start and stop a project without the cleanup plus you can "UNDO."

My first project is a birth announcement for my already 3.5 month baby!  I'm still not sure how she got that old already!  I went through the templates and found an adorable baby girl one and placed my pictures.  It was so easy but the program also allows to you edit and customize everything!

One of the greatest things about it is that the program is an online program so it travels easy to all computers.   If I have a couple of minutes at work during a lunch break, I can scrapbook!  Helen mentioned that she has a client who travels for work and does her scrap booking in the hotel at night.  What a great idea!

You can purchase a club plan that allows you to stock up points to publish.  You can make storybooks, cards, announcements, playing cards, even canvases!

Why I love sewing....

By Miranda Brands

I love sewing because it is so exciting to see a garment take shape.   I read once in a sewing magazine, Sew It All, that there is some power in looking at a garment and saying I can make that.   Almost three years ago when my eldest daughter was born,  I was struggling to find pants that both fit in the waist and in length.  I decided that I could read directions and learn to sew.  My first pair of pants was a disaster and I'm pretty sure that she never wore them but I took what I learned with those and tried another pair.  Her second pair of pants were some of my favorites and amazingly a three month old wore out a pair of pants!

Since then, I have sewn costumes, dresses, bags, curtains, aprons, aprons and more aprons.  This Christmas, I used some left over material from my wedding and made my girls' matching dresses.
